hey guys im in quite a heap of a mess here, the other day my 4wd started acting up, i was driving down the road, at about 45 and the t-case started rapidly engaging and disengaging, making a slamming sound it was most prominent on the driver side, so thinking this was a locking hub i replaced it with a spare i knew was good, didnt help, the only other thing that came to mind was that the chain inside the t-case was skipping teeth, thats the only other thing i could associate that sound with, my transfer case is a borg warner 1356, i just so happen to have an np-208 at the ready, but being that its a mess outside with all the snow and such, i dont wanna start this job unless i know that t-case i have will fit i dont really see any problem looks like it will bolt up doesnt look any longer or shorter that the 1356, thing that concerns me is i dont know weather or not there are any sensors inside it that the trucks computer needs to function properly, the 4wd indicator isnt even coming on, the bulbs fine and it was working the other day when this started though it went out any help would be much appreciated
There are no sensors at all, the only thing electronic in there is the 4wd signal, and the shifter motor if your 4wd is activated from the dash, if you have the floor shifter then there is just the dash signal, I repeat, no sensors at all.
I don't know if the 89's had the E4OD Trans. I thought it was the AOD or w/e it is. The one before the 4OD trans. Shouldn't be too many issues with the electrical side of things.
