Hey gang. I have an '03 with the 5.4 in it. Yesterday I noticed the truck would "chug" when I would accelerate and now today it is idling very choppy. Pretty certain it needs new plugs (110k on the original plugs) but with it being so cold out I was hoping to put that off until Spring.
My question is, and I know this sounds silly but I really don't know, is there a way to check the truck to find out which plug or plugs are fouled? Also, in case it isn't a plug, how do I test the coils to know if they are bad?
This is my daily driver so I need to get her up and running again ASAP.
When the plugs go south (100k is about then), the coils will follow; yes the OBD codes will tell which it is, but you're probably due for plugs & a coil or 2. BT, DT.
