At times when i go to engage the parking brake with my foot the pedal to engage the parking brake doesn't move.
Now if I really put some pressure on the pedal it will finally go down and engage the parking brake. This doesn't happen all the time. When I finally release the parking brake after it sticks I point my side mirrors toward the rear brakes to confirm they are turning, since I know that if the parking brake is on while driving the rear tires won't move.
Has anyone had this kind of issue and if so what should I due to keep it from sticking.
I know some people don't use there parking brake at all and when they go to use the parking brake it sticks or frozen. I use my parking brake every day from parking at the house to driving around the corner to Wal-Mart and I put the brake back on.
I haven't run into the issue ever, but the parking brake on the SDs are margin and I would not be relying that if they are on they will prevent a diesel truck from moving.
Mine has been stuck since I bought it 33k ago. I have asked in different areas of FTE, only thing I got was that it happens and one person replaced theirs 3x on on an EX. I tried to pull mine out once but there is a bolt that is impossible to get to when it is up. Well impossible at the time, I was not that motivated to take it off. I will be trying again soon, really wanted it today pulling 7k boat out of the water. My suggestion is replace it while it still moves last I checked they are about $150.
I have a 2006 with the 6 speed manual trans so I use mine often. I had to replace several parts last year on mine. You should really check a few things to be sure you find out what is wrong before throwing parts at it. It could be the parking brake leaver, but I bet it is one or more of the cables. There is a main cable that runs from the parking brake, then it “Ys” into two cables in front of rear tire on the drivers side. One of those, or all three could be hanging up causing a problem. There is also a lever that operates the parking brake that could be hanging up. If any of these things are hanging, it could cause the parking brakes to wear out.
I had to replace both back cables, the brake shoes, and backing plates. See link for help.
I have to replace mine because of a seal leak. But Im looking for some help or a tech to advise me. I have never had to deal with the rear seal and it looks to be some sort of 2 piece. can one of the techs clue me in? I managed to get the hub off, and the seal remained in the bearing hub, but there is also a piece of it on the axle housing too. The supplier says the seals are two piece, how do I install the inner piece to the axle housing. I have done speedi sleeves before, but this looks different. I know too that I have to get the special tool for the brg nut. Is there a section of the repair manual someone can post? Thanks

The seal just came apart when you pulled the hub. Both of mine came apart when I did mine. Just tap the rest of the seal off of the spindle. Install the new seal in the hub and put it back on.
I also put some grease on the spindle to help prevent rust behind the seal. Check out the link I included above, it is what helped me complete the job.
