Comp Ratios And Octane

In general:

9.1:1 for 87
10.0:1 for 91/92 (with good quench)
11.0:1 for 91/92 with aluminum heads

Many people run over 11.0:1 with well prepared iron heads using near zero or zero deck and a cam with duration exceeding 230 degrees.

I'm running right at 10.0:1 with iron heads and pop up pistons. It will run on 93 but you gotta have everything perfect. Big enough cam, polish combustion chambers, timing is everthing (both cam and ignition timing), perfect AF ratio, etc. Would be easier to make it run right if I had flat tops, but couldn't find any to make my CR high enough with my big chambers.
