96 explorer 4x4 not working

96 explorer 4x4 not working
I have a 96 explorer with the 4.0 motor, and a 4x4 switch on the dash.
I can -not get the 4x4 to engauge?

can anyone help?

thanks


I have not used it for a long time, since last winter was real mild

If not exercised on a regular basis the contact plate inside the T/C shift motor will fail to make contact, remove, disassemble and clean... Philip
