two things....interior lights/instrument panel/ headlights flicker when truck idles...fine when driving...
also have a rough idle... idles real high and then normal...real high...then normal...etc. but it has to do with my ac compressor i think....the clutch kicks on and off in the compressor and this is when the idle changes take place....not even using ac...
Did you get the "issues" from your previous thread ever taken care of? In order for members to give a proper response to your problems we need the whole picture than just throwing darts at the board.
Lights going dim and bright with idle of the engine could be alternator. Engine not staying at idle could IAC idle air control ( I believe the 99s had those), fuel filter? You mentioned fuel pump in previous thread? Has this truck had a proper service life?
sorry, the feul pump and filter were changed...truck is running fine now for that issue...these are all just issues im slowly trying to take carre of...
the alternator was supposively recently replaced...looks new...dont know if its not enough ampage...
and the idle issue def has somehting to do with the comprerssor....positive about that....it kicks on and off continuously (even when ac isnt used), changing the idle
The trucks idles should stay steady even with the draw from the ac clutches applying and releasing, I think that is just showing the idle issue more, that the engine is trying to compensate for the draw instead of running at a normal idle.
When I had my '99' 5.4 I had the same issue with the AC that it seemed like it was always clutching on and off, I had it looked at and other than the clutches needed shimming to bring them out just a bit more the AC was normal.
I also remember taking the throttle body off one time and having to clean it, there was a lot of gunk inside it that was causing an idle issue also. It was not that hard to do either. That's when the truck probably had 150-175k miles on it. Just a thought.
