well I did a little diggin and found one of mine when it had the box on it, but it appears it came out a little small again. Does anyone know how to make a pic bigger, I made it as big as I could on my computer and then put it in my album, but it is still really small. Anyway thats my 53 with its 9 foot dumpbox on it. I kinda posed the pic thought it had a neat background. I took it when I was duck huntin. It was a real workhorse before I started tearing into it. It hauled hay 3 times a week, I drove it to my huntin spot every weekend and I hauled numerous loads of rock and manuer with it. What do you guys haul with yours??
Dang it Ray, why don't you put a load of wood on it. You don't have to haul the whole forest at one time, your truck is too nice to be working her so hard man, your going to break her into two pieces.
hey ray it is an f1 it never occured to me to put that sorry. buildin this truck on a budget for my son an he helps when hes not workin, the truck really wasnt worth saving but its the only thing he got when his grandfather passed, so it means alot to him, an besides it has helped me an him to have a real good an growing relationship so i didnt mind at all,so would have to look an c how much the hydraulic over electric is so thanks yaw,

If the truck belonged to his granddad the truck is worth a lot to him. Great that you two are working on it together. Some of the best time with my boys was when we were working on a project such as an old truck or car. Actually all that is needed to run a hydraulic pump in most cases is a starter motor hooked to the pump and a high capacity battery.

Shucks, Gary, she never got in any kind of a strain with that load. Real trucks were built to haul loads, not run up and down the road or sit around looking pretty. JK
wow keep the pics comin those are some nice lookin dump boxes. I especially like Raytasches thats a super nice dump box. I like the wood on the side, is that stained and what kind of wood is it, I like the dark color.
The gray side boards shown on this thread picture are nature weathered pine, no preservative or finish.

Trucks are meant to be trucks.
You know, my wife's uncle built a dump bed with some spare parts. I need to ask him how he did it. He also put power steering on one of his tractors, I think it was from a Cadillac.
Hey guys,
I put a wanted add on my local craigslist for a ford script dumpbox. I got a reply from a guy who has an 8ft and a 12ft ford script dump. He said he doesnt really know the condition and I dont have any pics because they are buried under 2 feet of snow. He said if I was serious he would dig em out and send some pics. He wants 350 for the 12ft and 250 for the 8ft. Is this a good price assuming they are in good shape,I know its hard without pics but if you coud give me your opinion that would be great. My only other question is Could I mount the 12 ft bed on my f-350 or would I have to cut it down to 9ft like it should be?? Is this worth the work??
Any input appreciated.
Thanks
me an my son r building his 49 ford truck an we was thinking of a tilt bed also but what i have come up with is a automatic gate opener, they r 12 volts an i have found some that r rated at 1200 pounds, what do yaw think r have any of you done this
I have put several dump beds on different trucks. If it is a F-350 or smaller, I use the electric/hyd. set-up. You can find these combinations fairly often at classic car meets. It is a unit that includes a hyd. pump and reservoir driven by an elect. starter motor. It is about 18"x7". It mounts easily on the outside of your frame. Then a hyd. hose to a ram and back to reservoir and you have it. Rams can be found on all types of old equip. I also used this setup to tilt the cab of my '56 ford crewcab forward to gain access to the 460/C6 combo under the back seat. Truck is a cabover so pivot point isn't to far out front. Works great The unit consists of 12 volt motor, hyd. pump, relays. and reservoir. I usually pay between $200- $300 complete. Rams can be found for around $50.

I would not consider the price out of reason if it is good. I would think cutting the 12' down would not be all that big a job as I believe the 9 and 12 are the same width at 87 inches.
Well actually what about the 8ft box. I think it would fit withought any cutting assuming its wide enough. At first when I measured the 8ft one was to short for my frame but I realized I was measuring from the cab back not where the it would attach to my hoist which leave a few inches off the back? What trucks were the 8ft ford script made for?? I didnt even think they made an 8ft. Is it made for a dual wheeled truck.
