Trouble at work?
I started a new job about 7 months ago, now I'm having my doubts about it. First, I am a parts guy for a well known in the area company for big rigs and light trucks.
Things have been somewhat slow around there lately, especially with the holidays coming up. Lately my boss has been acting alittle what I consider childish towards me and I sense alittle feeling of being lied too.
Money and raises. My Boss has been bringing this up alot lately towards me. When I started there I worked shipping/recieving and my main priority was to make sure all the parts were in there correct location and put away in a numerical order. If I did this with no mistakes for a month, I would get a raise, well 7 months later, not a penny more.
If I did a better job of cleaning, taking out the trash more often, sweeping and dusting. I now do this everyday, still not a penny more.
Finally, when were just talking in general, I say what I have to say then he gives me a "are you done talking" look like he's just itching me for me to shutup.
Am I just wasting my time there or give it a bit longer? I make decent money and we are a union facility.
There was always this conflict between the janitor and the union steward. The janitor is supposed to take out the trash. Janitor is pretty damn lazy and he won't touch my department, for some reason he still works there? So I end up taking out the trash, taking out cardboard, sweeping etc... I don't mind busting my *** but if it's because someone else doesn't want to do there job and get away with it, that's B.S They pick on me to do this because they know I'll do it.

When I was in the union they couldn't force you to do anything that wasn't in your job description..
As Stu mentioned, you still have a job so don't rock the boat until you have something else lined up..
In the end, my very extensive overtime pay reflects a co-workers lost wages due to laziness or the inability to perform as assigned.
To the OP, my advise to you sir would be to do as you are asked and become the very best at what you do, even if it's outside the scope of your written assignments.
^^^ Then if you ever decide to approach the union and file a grievance, you can honestly say that you performed exactly as your supervisor instructed you to. After all, in a union or non-union shop, it's our job to do as told and file a grievance later so long as the instructions are legal and safe.
