Hey Y'all, I was looking for an introduction thread, But figured instead of just popping into a random thread, I'd say hello first. I've been checking out this forum for a minute now, and in preparation to buying my '94 F350 7.3 DIT, to see what kind of things have been done with it, how easy to fix and so on. Now that I own the truck, I figured this was a good forum to get into.
I am making this truck a project. So When I post pictures in my gallery, or in the forums, don't think I neglected her, she was a farm truck for the last 50k miles or more, and has seen some use. I got her for 1800 bucks. I already have plans and work underway to replace the cosmetic status of the truck, so you'll probably find me in the 1994.5 - 1997 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel section a bunch.
Because of my work schedule and using a garage on post, work will be a part at a time.
This is my first truck, so switching forums and mediums is going to be hard. so I'll be posting a lot. I'm not new to diesels, but new to trucks. I saw it's potential to be a great truck that will last me another couple hundred thousand miles, as well as strengthen my abilities on working on vehicles, and give me something to do on the weekends beside gettin drunk and have something to show for it at the end of the day.
If you want to ask questions, or just interested in the project, I'd be happy to answer or post current updates.
Hey Project, welcome to the site! This is an EXCELLENT place to be for keeping that thing running for another couple hundred thousand miles. You're in good hands here. These guys are great.
Now to the first order of business....where are the pictures? Lol.
Oh, and thanks for your service! We owe you a debt of gratitude at minimum.
Another welcome here! This is a great forum! You'll learn a lot from a great bunch of guys that will go above and beyond to help you with any problems! And as Nate said, Thanks for your service!
I can't seem to change my album cover to my garage cover, but there are pictures there. If you have suggestions, I'd love to hear them! I'll post my Ideas in a separate thread too, at the moment, I'm just getting myself oriented.

I have a F350 CC 4x4 project that is on hold right now due to lack of funds LOL!! The best advice I can give to start is, save your pennies! LOL!! Mine was pretty rough too, but it's down to a bare frame now, just waiting to save up some more money to start working on it again.

Yea, the nice thing about buying the truck outright is, no car payments, no loans, no interest to pay.
Really she is paying her self off. I'm not some dumb Army guy, who spends his money frivolously. I've saved from day one. a hundred here, maybe 200 there. Bought the truck and have lots of money saved up. I just don't use that savings, I buy what I can from paycheck to paycheck. 150$ part here, two 60$ parts there.
Tax season is almost here too. so that will help for some of the major items. Salvage yards will take the rest..
But that's why it's a piece at a time kind of project. I don't have a grand to blow on a better turbo, but the clutch and transmission and drivetrain were done already, and have 10k miles on them both. I don't have exact mileage on me at the moment, but its just about 230-240k miles.
That's the way to do it bud. No payments ever again for either. I'll just keep working on my junk! LOL!! Like I said, you got a lot of potential there, good luck with it and keep us posted on your progress.
That looks like a nice platform on which to build! Get those ratty old running boards off there, clean it up good and it will start looking better pretty quickly. Too bad you're so far away, I just dragged the remnants of a red interior, including the entire dashboard to the curb for the trash man tomorrow morning. I have been trying for 18 months to get somebody to take it, but I'm tired of tripping over it.
You'll want to start by replacing that stock air box with an open element filter. Allow me to introduce you to your new best friend (and worst enemy)....Meet Riffraff Diesel
And I agree wholeheartedly, paying cash for your stuff is the ONLY way to go! Avoid that debt like the plague and make your money work for you....

Oh yea, running boards are going, and going with some nice nerf bars. I have been talking to my buddy who owns a dodge, and knows a lot about these engines and trucks, and how to get those good HP/torque numbers. He's a mechanic both in the Army and out, so he is going to be a good platform for me to run ideas off of in real-time, as well as teach me a few more tricks on being a budding grease monkey. Well if I was still living in PA, I would have been right over for those! too bad KS is a bit far to just drive there to pick it up though.
150$ for a filter kit is not a bad deal! I can see myself spending some time there already I would like a FMIC to go with it though, I was surprised when i didn't see one there.
What's nice though, is there is a garage here on post, you pay a certain amount of money, and use their tools, bays, lifts and for like 250$ a guy will paint it all, as long as you supply the paint. But that will be the last thing I do for it.
Tomorrow is replacing stock headlights with HID's and some black headlight housing with clear lens, and rear window.. I know HID is a tuner thing, but they sure do make it easier to see the road!
Lovin' the Dually, something about it just gets me going. I've always been country, growin up on 200 acre farm, and partying in the woods, I figured it was time for a truck. Like all my other vehicles, I knew I had to have her. Being a diesel helped too
There isn't a lot of rust on the frame, but she does need some TLC and a fix up of a lot of minor things, she is almost 2 decades old, so a lot of things can stand to be modernized a bit.
But I can't wait to start getting my hands dirty, this will be the first weekend I've had that I'll be able to get a few things done.
