You have the same issue I do though, the water drain on the tank is not functional. I've been running my system for two years and have not drained the water out yet. I really need to do that....

I try to remember to drain mine when I drain the water seperator.
I have never seen water out of the water seperator but I always get water out of the air tank.

I added pull cable drains to both tanks. Making it easy means you will do it more often.
Both cable ends are just pinched under a bolt/washer. The cable under the bolt in the picture is for the tank above the driveshaft. That tank never gets water, but I still like to check.
Those u-bolts came with the tank, but I have made and or purchased large U's like that in the past.
McMaster Carr is a distributor that has carried u-bolts like that.
I just got the Viair system for Xmas. The manual says the compressor is water and dust resistant, NOT WATER PROOF OR DUST PROOF. So, I'm thinking of trying to install the compressor in the cab, behind the rear seat. The only limitation seems to be the 2 ft leader hose from the compressor to the tank. Anybody give this a try? And if not, have you done anything extra to protect the compressor mounted under the vehicle? Thanks in advance, Jim
My compressor has been 100% out of sight out of mind under the truck for over 2 years and 138,000 miles. It holds up just fine under there as long as you don't find a way to mount it right behind a tire or something. Stuff under there actually stays pretty dry.
Anybody have issues with the tank bleeding down because of small leaks? If you don't have any leaks, did you do anything special to stop them? My system has been installed for a couple of weeks now, but is suffers from leaking.
Find the leak (soapy water works for me) and fix the leak. A lot of them are as simple as remove the line, clean cut it and reinsert and leak is gone. Threaded connections need Teflon tape or plumbers paste.
