I am putting 351w in my 54 f-100. I'm using the duraspark II ignition. I got wires for it, but they are for a Mustang, so the coil wire is different. If I go to the auto store and ask for new coil wire, what do I ask for, like what year F-150, or Bronco had 351w with duraspark II ignition?
If you are putting a duraspark II system in, then you should install a duraspark II coil too. The duraspark II coil will have pins instead of threaded post connections. I sold my 53 f100, which had a 351c with points and a duraspark II coil. The next owner put the points style coil in it, and it ran better. I didn't think there was any difference, but I remember reading on here later that there is some difference between an electronic style coil and a points coil.
K, this is what im asking for. Forget about the stock ignition, it's gone.
I have a duraspark II ignition. I bought wires for a 302 EFI. The coils are different. Now I need the coil wire for the duraspark II coil because it's a female and the one for a Mustang is male. Do you know what Im saying now?
Yep, I know what you mean now. The efi coil is square, mounts off to the side, and has a terminal on top of it that looks just like a sparkplug.
All you need is a set of wires for a late 70's early 80's car or truck. They will have the right coil wire. And also, they will be in the lengths required to run the wires over the center of the valve cover. The efi wires are designed to run around the front of the valve cover, in holders made to clip on special valve cover bolts with pins made into them.
