O2 sensor

I dont know much about O2 sensors . But i need to figure this out .
I have a 94 E350 w/5.8 , it calls for 2 o2 sensors but only had 1 . i installed a second one , now my mpg has gone down !
Could the wrong o2 sensors cause this problem ???

i would expect it to have one on the left bank and one on the right.

when you say you installed a second one, how? did you add a place in the exhaust to mount it? what did you wire it to?

i would guess that whatever you did now has the computer confused and running in limp-home mode, which will consume a lot more fuel and make less power

The van called for 2 but there was only a spot for 1 . Both plugs were on the van , but only 1 spot in the exaust for one. So i drilled a hole & put in the 2nd one where it said it should be.

i would of thought 1 right , 1 left . but it has 1 in between the 2 exaust pipes & 1 on passenger side just passed the manifold.
