IDI PROBLEMS

I have a 1992 7.3 IDI 5 speed manual. When I am driving down the road normally not accelerating or decelerating it dies.. Just shuts off.. It also idles up and down while driving.. I have no idea what this could be.. Any help would be appreciated! I'm new to all this

Check to see if you have water in your fuel filter.

An erratic idle normally means ip lines or air intrusion. Check to see if any injection lines or investors are leaking. Also if u have the stock return line it probably needs maintenance

Mine done the same thing. It would idle up then down to normal. It didn't die, but it did hesitate and acted like it was starving for fuel. Took my fuel filter off and the water in fuel wire was broken inside the elbow at the bottom of the filter. When I took the elbow lose, the metal stayed on the pin in the filter housing. Had water in the bottom but my light never came on. Changed the filter and put a new elbow on the wire. Filled the new filter with automatic trans fluid(every filter change)ran great.

our most common issues are inexpensive if not free fixes, yet frustrating fuel delivery issues."air intrusion."
if an idi doesn't like to start, start then stalls, misses, shakes with power surges while gown the road, start with inspecting fuel delivery.

Your welcome. What you described sounds exactly like what happened to my truck. Might be like 1989f250idi said, air. Look for leaks. Most likely not the governor.
