I have a 98 4x4 Ranger with 70k miles on it, and the leaf springs are getting weaker. I keep weight in the back all the time (canopy w/tools etc.) and now the rear end sags and the springs squeak when they flex or I hit a bump. I'm hoping to get new leaf springs within a week or two and need some advice. I'd like springs with about 2 inches of lift over stock ride, I figure with the weight I keep in it, it should be about level with the front. What I would really like to find is a spring with 5 leafs, and 2-3 inches of lift, but I'm having a hard time finding it. Am I better off buying stock springs and putting add-a-leafs on, or is there a better solution? I was going to look into superlift springs, but I didn't find any for the Ranger on their website, and I've heard that the superlift springs get weak fairly quick.
Any recommendations for online stores were I can get some new springs? Any favorite manufacturers? I'm taking a trip in two weeks and the bed is going to be full with a small boat in tow, so the sooner I get this all figured out, the better
Thanks guys,
Brian J Wilson
(By the way, I am also planning on buying some new Bilstien shocks with the springs)
