Stalling at start-up
Just recently, the engine would stall immediately after starting in the morning. It does it every day now. After I give it some gas, it runs fine. After reaching a certain temperature, it runs fine for the rest of the day. I do regular maintenance (filters and oil) every two months or so. It runs fine otherwise. Is there a part that needs to be replaced? Perhaps a cold start valve/switch. My Ford dealer (parts/service) won't tell me anything about it. They want me to bring it in to get it fixed (with a fee for just bringing it in). None of the local Ford dealers want to tell me what the problem is. They want me to drop it off so that they can fix it. It seems like they all got on the phone after I went to the first one.
All comments are welcome.
I had the same problem with my Expy last year. Turns out the EGR was sticking open and the truck would stall immediately. I tapped on it while my wife started it and it closed up.
If this works for you, remove the EGR and clean it really good with brake cleaner, lube it with silicon or a high temp lube and see if that helps.
We could tell on ours because the exaust stunk real bad and it spuddered and chugged like it had a massive vacuum leak.
Hope this helps.
