Hey, maybe one of the moderators can help me with this one, but I'll listen to any one who knows.
I live in New Mexico and do most of my driving well over a mile above sea level. The highest octane gasoline I can get is 91 octane. With a Superchip or Diablo, is it necessary to have it programmed for high elevation and <=91 octane. Our low octane gasoline here is 86 and sometimes 85 but I won't be using that once the computer modification is complete.
I ask because on a recent trip I took to Rochester NY, I noticed along the way that some gas stations sold 94 octane. No one sells anything that high in NM. Are the chips region/altitude specific?
I won't be able to read the reply till next Thrsday, so any return questions will have a delayed response. Sorry.
If you scroll a ways down on the main forum page you'll find the Computer Tuning forum. I'm sure the guys there will know
With the higher altitude you dont need as much octane and I've never heard of altitude specific chips but other than that I dont really know.
