I picked up a used 8' bed for my 79 f100. The roll pan was rusty so I replaced it and had a support welded in. The support is 3" x 1/4" steel and is welded to the inside of the rear stake pockets and across under the roll pan. The rear continues to flex and is causeing some tearing to the inside of the bed just in front of the rear stakes. The tailgate was badly rusted where the hinges attach so I just picked up a better one from the wreaker and am putting it in tomorrow. Anyone experience a similar problem? Any solutions?
