I dropped my mid tank to change the module. Had to cut the straps.
The old straps have some kind of under coating to protect the tank from
chaffing? Does anyone know what this is? I went to the store to by
the 3/8 tool to remove the gas lines from the tank.
Bought the 6.99 adjustable ones. Didnt work.
Went back and bought the 999 plastic ones. Didnt work
Went back and bought the shiny colered metals. Worked like a charm.
There were 20 dollars
lol Go figure... at least you didnt buy the $50 tool and then have your neighbor tell you he had the $5 cheap ones that worked better... I think you could just put a strip of rubber or something there for protection.

That's exactly what I did when I replaced my tank. I cleaned the tank, coated it with rubberized undercoating, painted the straps, and glued a nice thick strip of rubber to each strap before installation.
