I have an 85 Full size Bronco with a I6. When I plug in the code reader into the wiring harness connector the reader beeps solid. I replaced the electronic module (computer) and the same thing happens. I get about 8 miles per gallon and it overheats when pulling my small aluminum boat. I can also unplug the whole module and the Bronco runs about the same.
I have replaced the water pump (because it was weaping) and the fan clutch which seemed to help but didn't cure the problem.
I read a message several months ago suggesting that the module either has a bad ground or isn't getting any power. Does anybody have any ideas of where to start looking for the problems? Are there any common places for these connections to go bad?
