Hey Joe I am getting my replacement vehicle from ford soon and I went to look at it the other day. It is a lariet just like the first one. My question is why did they drop the duel visors and put single ones in. and my second question is why do the red lights on the inside of the doors not light up now it is just a reflector. I had heard this before that is why I went to look at the new one to see if it was a isolated incident but I guess it was true. Do you know or can you find out if the light wires are still in the doors and all I need to fix is the light bulbs or would I have to have it wired to get the lights in the doors. Why would the take these two items off ? I guess to save a buck or two.
I don't know (maybe someone else can answer these questions).
They did the same thing on the Escape Limited(deleted some equipment that was previously standard equipment). That is why I bought mine in November. They should have given the customer the option instead of deleting these items al together.
It's called "decontenting". Eliminating items that supposedly the customer really doesn't notice to save on manufacturing costs.
Toyota went to a thinner fabric on the rear seats. Same idea.
Unfortunately, I think that Ford's market research screwed up when it determined that no one will notice these changes. I have seen a lot posts complaining about the deletion of these items.
You should be able to get a part number for the visors and buy them at the parts counter.
I don't know about the wire in the doors.
FYI -
Joe works at Navistar's Indy Plant. Please don't ask him what Ford is doing at KTP. That's not fair to him.
