Thought I'd take a break from all my question-asking and share some very neat items about my new-old truck.
I'm the third owner of this 72 F100. The original owner kept meticulous records: original sales receipt, service records, hand-written list of extras at time of sale, mileage and date of replacements, etc. (His careful records-keeping translated into how he kept care of this old gem. It is very evident the truck was taken care of very, very well.)
I love having this documentation and history with the truck. The original dealership sticker is on the fender, too.
He even scrawled his name on the keys and put a label with him name on the driver side door! That label is staying right where he left it.
When the original owner died the truck went from his estate to the kind elderly farmer from whom I bought it.
Its cool to have all the original documentation. I also like the picture of the "8 cent post mark".....other than the hat your wearing!! LOL, just kidding!
Also good to know that these trucks, when taken care of, can be an investment. Anytime I see original receipts and window stickers its unreal how things were made and sold for at those prices back then. I wish I could go back in time and buy some of these Fords new at those prices, LOL.
That's way cool.
Reminds me of my dads old '65.
He ordered it from the factory, so he got a plaque that he mounted above the steering column that said "This truck built especially for ____________".
Congratulations on YOUR truck.
Awesome looking truck. And I agree it is cool to have the original documentation. I had a 1990 Pontiac Firebird that had the original invoice, and all repair bills from the original owner. I was the second owner, and never should have gotten rid of it.
The more documents, the better, for any collector car. One question, assuming you have the original keys, which I am sure you have, is there a Ford logo on both sides and is there a round key hole for the ring? I believe newer keys have a logo on one side and "family of fine cars" on the other with a slotted key ring hole.
tripleframe,
Interesting question and thanks for that info. Here is a pic.
The round key has Ford logo on one side, "Family of Fine Cars" on the opposite side.
The square key has Ford logo on both sides.
Both keys have round holes.
