We bought two portable XM receivers 5 years ago and the promotional cost was $7 and change per receiver. When the promotion period was over we were paying $18 a month. Since Sirius took over XM a couple of years ago they've raised the cost to $28 for 2 receivers and changed the format to Sirius format which has too much talking and not enough music like XM was. We're going to drop them after Christmas and just use the I-Pod with our own music on it. I'll take whatever sports I can get on AM-FM and be done with it. If I can't get Sirius the way I like it I won't pay for it. They can keep it.
Does the 6 month Surius radio trial on new F150s include all Surius channels? We had the NHL channel and now it's gone.
Not much to talk about on that channel these days anyhow.
Here's how I've done it on my truck and my wife's Taurus: Wait until it's about to expire, then call them to tell them you don't want it renewed because it's too expensive. They'll start throwing deals at you. Last time I renewed both for about $80 for the year.

I just let mine expire last week. I got an offer in the mail today for 1 year at $80.00.
Just got a renewal in the mail, 6 months for $25 for the Select package. We have 6 months free with the purchase, but I'll keep it and try to use it when our initial 6 month trial is over. Are most of the renewal deals for just the Select package?
I let mine expire and I have not renewed since for 3yrs already. I get an offer every couple of months to renew. I think the last one was $4 month for 6months. Still not worth it for me.
I run Pandora on my phone and stream it via BT or aux jack. It sounds superior (far less compressed) compared to Sirius....It's free since I'm already paying for a data plan, and it doesn't matter how many cars I have.
I also use Google maps for nav and traffic conditions and Gas Buddy for gas pricing. Both are far superior and more real-time accurate than the Sirius travel link.
The only bummer is they are not an integrated display/app that runs on my Sync.
That brings up a question. Is there an app to hook up the phone to display nav, gas prices, and weather? that is all I use sirius for. Can you just get those things from sirius and not the music?

I thought that was part of SYNC. I'm likely wrong, but that's what I thought.
I've had a variety of Sirius/XM accounts for a number of years. House Boom Box, Portable models for the car/truck; in dash units.
When taking trips (we go from New England to Florida every February, and trips from New England to Ohio and Northern Maine), it is a wonderful tool. Not having to thumb around and try and find local channels, and so forth, is worth it.
I CAN say that we have stopped all accounts with Sirius/XM due to budget crunch needs, and hey.........if you "have to, you have to." I miss it (I could list a number of channels I liked, but why bother), and perhaps one day I'll get it back again. The rates are going up though, so beware!!
I just got a flyer offering 6 months at $25. This will be the 3rd time I've been offered the same deal, and will likely take it again, for the third time. We are leaving this Saturday to go down and see family. There are a lot of dead zones for radio signal in the mountains, but Sirius usually comes through fine. I need to get more music on my ipod, just in case they don't offer the deal for a 4th time.
