"It really pisses me off that they can't shift the two pieces around the rear window a couple inches over in their die-cutting machine and make a factory cut for the 51-52's. I fully expect there will be a slip of the knife doing that."

The cut will actually be more like 6 or 8" out of each side. You will be left with very thin strips above and below the window.
For the dome light take the lense out and measure it to the center and start with an X and trim it out a little at time. Atleast that is what I did.

Are you kidding?! Is the 51-52 window taller as well as wider?!

As I recall, my kit came with 2 finish trim pieces for the rear window, one for the 48-50 and one for the 51-52.

I stand corrected my wife reminded me it was actually about 3 1/2 to 4" inches on each side. I was including the strip part that I mentioned before.
I guess the window is maybe 8" wider or somewhere in that neighborhood.

According to the sales brochure, it's 50% bigger and 3 feet wide, with visibility "greater than ever before!"

I think this picture may give you an idea of how much you cut if you comapre it to your panels as they are now. maybe?

i remember the rear window being the hardest part to get looking right. i trimmed more off above the window than Carolina 52's picture, but i think his looks better than mine.

mine also has the small gap between panels just below the window on the drivers side as pictured, i don't know why it's there.

Holy crap, is there supposed to be a piece of metal over the rear window seal?! I sure don't have one. I was wondering what would "finish" the edges around the window.

Those "hand-hold" gaps in the panel below window are a puzzle.

Great pics, thanks! I won't get to that area for a couple of days.

No that is not a metal piece over the window seal. I painted the rubber for a cleaner look.

It does look nice, but I'll be replacing my rear glass "someday" and my interior is black anyway. A garnish modling would be a nice way to finish the edges of the cardboard. I may try to fab something.

Ross, I hope your headliner fits better than mine did. I had to hack it up terribly to get it to fit right. Fortunately, I was covering it with headliner material anyway so I was able to cover up my hacks.

I'm guessing that those curved divots were intended to be for the bend at the corner and the tooling was "not very well toleranced." Just a guess.

I looked at my old pieces this afternoon to refresh my memory for sure. The headliner pieces just have a plain cut edge, but they all tuck under the rear window rubber to give it a finished look. It looks fine when done. You really don't need to create anything else.

If you're not replacing the rubber at the same time as the headliner trim installation, my tip would be to clean the rubber around the glass with lacquer thinner on a rag before installing the trim. It'll give the rubber a new look without the slime of tire dressing messing up the new kit.

Ok Ross, now go back out and remove the headliner. Lay it on a large piece of paper and trace the outline. All the pieces please. Stick it in an envelope and mail it to me so I can trace it onto abs. Thanks.
