I am trying to get rid of my little car, and get into a truck again. While I was out shopping for food yesterday I saw a 92 F250 rclb with a 460 for sale. So it got me bench racing while I am out sick for a few days.
How would an F250 stack up against a Gen 1 Lightning or a 454SS.
I am figuring full bolt-ons, and tune it for a bit more HP. Lower it down a bit, and toss on 17" 8 lugs with street tires. Eventually more if I keep it long enough to justify.
Then if the feelings arise convert to rcsb with F150 drop beams. Or would this turn into a death trap with no real advantage over a built 302 or 351.
Or building a rcsb with F250 suspension bring a modicum of necessary safety, and modify the frame for a decent drop.
looking to build an over powered sleeper in away? keep the 460 if you can afford the fuel. easiest way and possibly the strongest way to convert to short bed would be, removing the long bed. sell it for some quick cash and buy a short bed. move the axle and springs forward then cut off the left over frame rails. that will drop you some weight. instead of the bolt ons id save up and purchase my self a super charger and then clean up the rear body off the truck because no body will be seeing anything but
