Ol Henry is looking down and smiling at all of us basic equipment truck guys. That was his business model when he ran the company. Edsel couldn't even get the old man to replace the Model T until Chevy surpassed Ford in sales. The less electric stuff there is the more dependable it is over the long haul. And the cheaper the cost of ownership is. The young guns running Ford today seem to have forgotten us simple folks and have abandoned Henry's business model entirely.

It's not just Ford, it's all car makers, predominantly Detroit's big three. US branded cars seem to have more standard creature comforts and more standard safety features than the Japanese branded vehicles for the same money.
Face it, trucks aren't just for farmers and contractors anymore. Over half of my neighborhood has a truck or SUV as the primary family vehicle.
If this weren't the case, we'd still have front leaf springs and solid front axles. I sure do miss those trucks.
I agree give me a base model truck regular cab, with ac. I'll be set. Maybe cruise control, which does help on long trips. Those are the only thing i miss on my current daily.
Tim, I know all U.S. manufacturers do this. I am only mentioning Ford because that's all I own and drive. The thought of buying something other than Ford just never occurred to me, especially when it comes to trucks. And Ford customers still have to accept power windows if they opt for an extended cab or crew cab even in XL trim. You want a base Focus, you still get power windows. I would rather forego the power windows on a Focus or Fusion and be able to get a direct injected turbo diesel with manual trans. My wife and I are seriously looking into a Passat with diesel option for her next car because I won't buy a hybrid because of the environmental damage done during the manufacturing and disposal process of the lithium-ion batteries used in hybrids.
