1995 ash tray light

1995 ash tray light
i have a 1995 f150 xl trim package and was wondering if they come with an ash tray light. i looked and dont see wires or a bulb but do see a small hole above the ash tray when its open. just making sure the xl has one before i tear it all apart and go looking for it

i cant get it removed, i see the bulb housing but dont see any more bolts to remove the ash tray

I got it out by pulling the ash tray out and then i located a fastener at the very back holding the metal housing in. i replaced the bulb with a blue 194 and now it looks pretty cool and is still bright enough to see. i dont think anyone has done this but i want to figure out a way to have the light turn on when i open the ash tray (weather the truck is on or off) kinnd of like the interior dome light when you open and close the door of the truck, and then shut off when i close the ash tray. does anybody have any ideas on how to make this work.

That'd be real hard to do. You can see if you could wire it to your headlights so it would come on with them, but that's about it. There's just no shut off button like there is in the passenger console. You would have to completely customize it and add one in. I'de say leave it the way it is so its always on. Then its there when you open it anyway.

I have everything out but cannot figure out how the bulb removes.....no way to get ahold of it. I think I want to replace with a blue LED.....hope I'm not just stupid...ha

If I remember correctly, the bulb should just pull out. Does yours have one of the metal shrouds around it?
