If you're still looking at a stock replacement for the 1bbl, usually a Carter YF is the carb of choice...if you're wanting to go to a bigger carb i.e. a 2 or 4 bbl, they make adapters, but the best way is to bye an Offenhauser or clifford intake manifold to put the 2 or 4 bbl carb on, just depends what you wanna do

i want to go the 4 barrel approach. I just was wondering what size to go with and what kind of brackets i need to make the throttle cable hook up and the kick down lever to line up.

Easiest way is to get the 4 barrel manifold from either offenhauser or clifford. Offenhauser is cheaper and many guys (including myself) use them and they are just as reliable. While you're doing the manifold swap..you may want to think about the log exhause..whether or not to run hedders, dual a dual efi manifold swap, or just keep the old log. That decision will affect how you will heat the intake manifold. As for the intake, its just a bolt on really, then just putting your carb on. Most guys have to fabricate brackets..but if you go the offenhauser route..there are 2 types. The "C" intake which will have the carb mounted in the "normal v8" way, and the "DP" manifold, which will have the carb mounted with the linkage toward the firewall, going side to side much like the stock carb already does. Again, your choice affects HOW and WHAT you will do, but its just a sense of how you want things mounted and how they will work best. Not too awful hard.

As for the carb...many guys use a Holly 390 cfm, some use Edelbrock 500 cfms, and some even 600 cfm Edelbrocks. These engines will handle it no matter what people think. Usually a 500 cfm is plenty to get the motors scootin. I'm pretty sure with some research, you can find the necessary throttle/kickdown brackets that go with a Holly or an Edelbrock setup. I've seen them around plenty.

Now about the intake style, if you choose to go that route..
The "C" style is an open plenum, single plane manifold that is better for higher rpm style stuff, but it doesn't really matter. Lotsa guys use them on all kinds of applications for their sixes.
The DP style is a "'Dual Port" style manifold that utilizes "dual planes". This one is supposedly better for keeping the low end torque. Again, its your preference.

Also..an autolite 4100 carb is a good setup. In the tips and tricks forum..somebody..I forget who now...explains the difference in the 1.12 size and the 1.8 size. The 1.8 size is I believe 490 cfm and are supposedly awesome simple carbs to run. No experience with em myself..bit again..lotsa guys will give you insight

I think you mean 1.08 not 1.8. And the 1.08 should be 480 cfm.

And the 1.12 is a 600 cfm.

What intake do you plan to use?

I'm thinking the Offenhauser DP with the holly 390. What type of brackets would i need for everything to line up especially the kick down lever for a C6 trany. Also i put headers on the truck a couple months ago so how would i go about heating the intake.

Ok..the dp won't be that big a pain..cuz you can just find a place to mount your current bracket...if you have one...if not..just go online and do a search. There are readily made brackets you can buy for your throttle and kickdown. As for heating the intake..there's a lot of tips about the heating plate. Go to the tips and tricks thread and read up. It's essentially a bolt on plate that has an inlet and outlet to run fluid from your radiator through. Many guys make them themselves.

Without seeing the current kickdown set-up it's hard to give much advice on how to mount it on a DP. The Offy intakes don't give you many options in terms of adding brackets - the only real choice is to fab something that uses the two intake heat bolt holes as the mounting point.

Lokar makes a C6 kickdown cable conversion that worked really well on my old F250, mates right up to their throttle cable bracket too. Here's the throttle bracket on my Offy C:

The intake heat plate isn't available retail so far as I know, but any welder should be able to fab one up. I believe I paid ~$30 total for the two elbows and welding:

I've had no worries with the stock fuel pump so far.
