[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-Aug-02 AT 09:33 AM (EST)]Hi everyone,
I currently have a leaky rear main seal but there also seems to be Transmission fluid(red oil)around that area. Does the rear main seal hold motor oil from leaking in one side and Transmission fluid from the other side since they are both joined at that seal(I think)? Is there a Transmission seal near that area that could be leaking?
I'm not very familiar with the mechanics in that area, Thanks in advance!
Yes, the front pump seal could be leaking. It goes around the torque converter. If you drop the tranny to replace the rear main replace this seal too. It'll just pull out of the tranny w/a seal puller and some patience. Be sure to have some large pipe to drive it back in.
