I need answers about offset and backspacing. I have a 1994 F250HD 4x4, with 16x7 wheels and 255 85 r16 tires. I am going to put 34"x10.50 r16 tires with new wheels on the truck. I can get the new 34" tires squeezed onto the 16x7 size wheel, but would probably prefer a 16x8 wheel. The specs for the Eagle wheel is 16x8, 4.00" backspacing, with -11mm offset.
The stock wheel has 4.25" backspacing and I do not know the stock wheel's offset. Currently the outside of the tire is just about even with the outside of the wheelwell. My question is: If I go to the 16x8 wheel, about how much farther out of the wheelwell will the tire stick out? I don't mind about an inch or so hanging out, but more than two inches is not acceptable to me! Any help is greatly appreciated, and if additional info is needed to determine the answer, let me know!
My guess would be, 1" wider wheel with 1/4" less backspacing would mean the wheel itself would be 1 1/4" farther out. That doesn't account for the tire being wider as well.
