Google "wrench-arc" torque technique, uh t I doubt the Ford manual has a torque value/wrench degree angle conversion.
I have found 4 to 7 and 10 Ft lbs, thats 48 to 84 snd 120 inlbs for the valve covers.
Tighten till a slight rise is felt, use a criss cross pattern, are you using rubber or cork gaskets, and any RTV?
You can rent a tq wrench for most parts stores or get one at a pawn shop.....but the you never know it its been "drop" re-calibrated.
Make sure the matting surface on the valve cover is especially around the bolt holes.
Tighten till a small amount of pressure shows thru on the gaskets.

Using cork and RTV. So not a good idea to go without a torque wrench? I was planning on the criss-cross tightening technique. I kinda live far out from town, but I also don't want to have to redo the job if it leaks.
