Hello
I recently bought this 06 F350 with an edge wiring harness in it. Does anyone know if I can just buy a head unit for it? or do I have to get a whole new kit?
That just looks like the EGT probe. If you dont have the Edge insight you should just be able to buy the Edge insight and it should just plug right in to it. But you may want to consider getting an EGT probe with the EAS starter kit so if you want to expand later you can without having to buy a new EGT probe that is compatible with the EAS (edge accessory system).
Your Edge product will depend on the design of the plug on the end. They take a Molex connector. Count how many pins the plug has, if it only has 4 pins then its the original style insight. If the plug has 6 pins, then it's for the newer insight.
In the pic below is a 4 pin Molex plug style that the older Insights use. The older Insights look like the Gryphon's from PHP, the second pic is what the older Insights look like.
If you follow that stainless steel coated wire down to the engine, you would find it would be in the drivers side exhaust manifold. It is used to measure the exhaust temprature before the turbo. Most usefull when towing or tuning and used with a edge product. They cost around $80 for a new probe/wiring, i would buy a matching edge gauge.
That I don't know, I only thought that Edge has two style Molex plugs. 4 pin for the older style, and 6 pin for the newer style. Looks like yours is a 8 pin.
