Back about a year I replaced my dually rear axle due to the spider gears breaking and ruining the ring and pinion and sending metal all over the place. I had good luck up until recently. I have noticed slight noise when backing up and thought the rear axle took a dump again. 2 weeks ago I was a stop and noticed a feeling like if the truck had been rear ended, pulled over to check for any issues and found none. Fast forward to this saturday. I went and picked up 5800 lbs of concrete and noticed at the first stop i came to the same bang at a complete stop. Made it home and attempt to back into the driveway. I then noticed a feeling like powerbraking and binding when backing up. Removed all concrete and lift the rear axle and check if it will backup, feels like brakes are engaged and wheen enough throttle is pushed it will act like brake s are released and chirp the tires. Checked the parking brakes, no binding. removed the driveshaft from the yoke and found that the rear axle spins freely. Attempt to spin the driveshaft and found it to spin freely in one direction and really hard to spin the other way. Has anybody had this issue? Thanks for reading my issue and value any input.
Don't know if this is any help but about a year ago my dually was acting like it was locked up in rev. Happened to me twice and ended with a new tranny!
mine is doing this same thing in reverse. Mine's not a dually tho. Trying to figure out what my issue is - afraid. Feels like it's binding up pretty tight and if I go back in drive turning, it will stay bound up. I have to turn wheel straight, then back up, then forward to get it loosened back up.
