P0670 Gremlin...

First off, This site has been a huge help for managing this 6.0 since buying this truck... Thanks!

I have searched all over and have been unable to find a solution to this problem... (or somebody with a similar situation)

My Glow Plugs seem to be on for a LONG period of time. The Shop manual states 0-120seconds depending on engine oil temp. However, I have timed mine, with Volt & Amp meter, shortest time was 3 minutes, longest time was 10 minutes... No matter the engine temp...

This has been killing my batteries. I have gone through 3 sets of batteries in the last 4 years.

After checking for codes with SCT/TSX, all I have is a P0670-Glow plug Ctrl Circuit Error. I have done numerous tests. Wiring harness is good, glow plugs are good, bus bars are good. I went through the pinpoint test in the Ford shop manual for P0670. All tested good and the last step states to replace PCM. Really??? I have not heard of many problems with the PCM and from what I have found if there is a problem with the PCM, I would have more codes than just the P0670. This is the only code I'm getting...

From what it looks like, the GPCM is not getting the engine oil temp signal and finally just times out... (I'm guessing)

Any help would be appreciated...

Good question for Cheezit or M-Chan because I am not the most electrical savvy person.

I would look at the Glow Plug Module myself.

if the glowplugs,buss bars, supply and grounds all test good replace gpcm. they have many knowen issues.
you are correct we dont have pcm issues, there very uncommon.

Thanks for the quick response "Cheezit".

One quick question.... Is there any other tests I can do to double check the problem is the GPCM?

I just don't want to throw another GPCM in it and have it not fix the problem then have to shell out even more money.

If you can borrow a known good GPCM from another truck to plug and try, that'll tell you very quickly. They are all the same from the 7.3L California emission equipped or Excursion application to all 6.0L trucks and all the 6.4L trucks. I too, would lean towards the GPCM not the PCM.
