1949 Sheet Metal Restoration Photos

I have included plenty of recently taken images showing the restoration process, even though the truck was in relatively good condition, there were some issues of rust deterioration on the fenders and cab body.

It look like the link is dead, or else Photobucket is having another of their "problems"...

Thanks. I am very happy with the outcome. To answer your question - I don’t know, but now I do know who knows.
This, to some degree has not been to pleasant for me; mainly because I started with a local body shop, and whenever he got some insurance work my truck would hit the end of the line, until one day I went with a trailer and pulled out my stuff. I even registered at a community college to learn how to do body work repair, and whilst doing this I came across to the answer to my needs. The sheet metal work will be finished sometime tomorrow and then to the painting booth. The guy doing the repairs has been very diligent at his work, and at the same time willing to share his knowledge.

Actually, all credit on the welding, bending, grinding, etc should go to the guy helping me. I am just supervising and taking pictures. At the comunity college I learned to get a better sence of what it takes to actually hammer things back in place, and not have to depend blindly on what someone tells me. I fixed the running boards in about 2.5 hours and the dude that initially took the job said that it would take longer.
Now I can see some clear light at the end of the tunnel.

That is just solid work. I could use those skills - instead, I'll just muddle along. Thanks for sharing.

What sort of color scheme do you have in mind?

I knew that i wanted a red color, but was not sure of the tone, so I got several samples of paint and made myself a couple of color tests. I will be using Vermillion red, and as you can see in the photo there are several tones; I will be using the first one from left to right made by PPG/Deltron; the second from left ro right is also made by PPG/Shop Line. The other 3 have different color codes by PPG.
Between the two PPG Vermillion colors made by PPG there is a significant difference, I like the one to the far left.
The code is 70358 for both, but one is made by PPG Deltron and the other is PPG Shop Line

That upper windshield repair is a tough one! Was it from mice? It looks very well done!

Thanks. It was only after doing the blasting that all the Swiss Cheese came out. Yes, this was probably the more time consuming of all the repairs. I am glad that this phase is over.
