posi question

I would like to know the same thing. I want to change the fluids in my differentials but wont yet until I know if I have the posi or not because of the special fluid you need to add to the posi's87 Bronco II Automatic 4wd

posi question

Just about any Bronco II or Ranger could have come with a limited slip. The best way to tell if an axle is a limited slip is to read it off the differential tag attached to the differential cover. The first numbers on the second line are the gear ratio. If the differential is a factory limited slip, there will be an "L" or "SL" where the decimal place would be. For example, 3 73 is an open 3.73 differential. 3SL73 is a limited slip 3.73 differential. If the tag is missing or illegible, then you can check the axle code on the door jamb. If, for some reason, you don't believe the door code (the axle isn't original) then you are probably to the point of opening the differential up and looking for the parts that go with a limited slip. Owenle, since you are planning on changing the fluid anyway, then that won't be a problem, because the best way to change the fluid is to open the differential anyway.
