Air Charge Temp. Sensor
I finally found a mechanic, Kevin @ Penn Diagnostic (Reading, PA) who knew how to properly troubleshoot performance issues. I tried for two years, using three different mechanics, over $1000.00, and this web page to solve my performance problem. Kevin explains that this sensor usually doesn't figure into performance issues because it's perameters are so wide that the computer can compensate. Not in my truck's case. The ACT sensor's failure caused my truck to run poorly at operating temperature. Ran fine on cold motor, but when warm, junk! For reference sake, my truck is: '88 F-250, 5.8L, 5-speed w/ 165,000 miles. Thanks to Kevin, it runs like new.
