To get my approximate depth I removed the o ring from sensor and cut duct tape " shims" and stuck on end until contact was made. Then measured the thickness of the duct tape build up, subtracted .020" from the thickness and machined to that length. The air gap should be .020 to .025"
Yes, we had same issue only I overhauled the whole engine. Had a no start and would only fire intermittantly. I installed a cps out of a dt466 got it running but is dying sometimes and idle erratic underload. So we machined the stock cps and will recheck depth today. Sure wish I used a ford timing covver. Yes me too, and don't waste your time with dorman, they are unreceptive to the idea there cover could be at fault I wAs told by them they would only send me another cover.... After they recived the defective cover.
Yes I hope people see it Before buying it. I have a bald spot from pulling out my hair on this one. Did you get yours running?? And approximate how much did you remove from sensor base?
My son removed .080 off the flange I think this will work without shims, if I need shims will do that. He used a lathe at his work. I will install the International#1876736C91 this is the newest CPS for the 7.3 this is recommended by Jody Tipton at DP Tuner and many others. Mike
