Throwing Belts
I have a 93 F150 4.9. Recently my truck has started to eat serpintine belts. I replaced the tension arm and pulley and it still throwing the belt. The belt seems to ride on the extreme backside of the idler pulley. All other pulleys rotate freely and have no play. Anyone with suggestions, please help. All my ideas are exhausted. Thanks Buddy

I have seen this happen for several reasons. Look for a bad harmonic balancer, bad tensioner, an accessory pully reinstalled upside down, a spacer misplaced on an accessory that was reinstalled, bent or broken brackets.

replace anything lately? i kept throwing mine about once every 6 months after i replaced my alternator. turns out the pulley had a nasty burr. check all your pulleys for alignment, smoothness, and also for the ability to spin freely.

Throwing Belts
The last thing I replaced was the altenator, about a year and a half ago. When the belt got thrown last week, I replaced the tensioner and pulley with no luck except getting a bad tensioner(stripped pulley bolt) Replaced pulley and belt. Ran fine yesterday. If it happens again I will look hard at the other pulleys starting with alternator since it was the last part changed. Tnaks for the advice. Buddy
