360 Vacuum question

I have a 360 with a recenty rebuild with only 5 miles on it. I put a vacuum gauge on it and it has 18 hgs of vacum but rapidly moves too 15 hgs while idleing. Is this normal until the rings seat or could i have a leak some where. Prior to rebuild had no problems with it.
Thanks
David

360 Vacuum question

If it's pulsing between 15 and 18 it sounds like an intake valve isn't sealing. What did the rebuild entail? Were the valves ground? It's possible that a valve might be recessed into the head slightly causing the lifter to bottom out keeping it open (if the tops weren't ground to the proper height). A shorter pushrod on the offending valve should help if that's the case.
