Ive got a 99 f350 (single wheel) powerstroke 4x4with 95000. on it. It started getting hard to get in gear. mainly when i was pulling now more often. I first replaced the slave cyclinder and that didnt help. i then replaced the master cyclinder and it seemed to fix it or at least help. Its still occasionally getting hard to get in gear. Im wondering if i have all the air out of the system. im new to these forums. i tried to bleed it by unhooking the line from the slave and having someone pour fluid in till it ran a steady stream out the bottom of the line and then quick connecting it to the already filled slave. maybe im just due a clutch. i do pull alot. my local shop says a cloutch kit is going to cost me $1000.00 that dosent include install. ouch. anything else out there cheaper but not junk. Also i keep worping rotors. ford rototrs must have weak steel. anybody know of an aftermarket rotor thats better than oem. thx guys
The best clutch kit on the market is the Luk upgrade unit. It is much better than the original Ford unit. Total cost on the kit which includes a new flywheel and brgs is 595. As for rotors, I have had some in the past manufactured by Performance friction. Very very high quality material and a 2 piece design. The only problem here is Performance Friction decided to redesign last may and I have yet to receive the new ones in stock. They said it would be June. Let me know if you have any questions on either the clutch or the brakes.
I also have a 99 f-350 with 50,000 miles on it. It went into the shop today to get a new master cyl for the clutch. This has been a great truck we don't tow with this one it's just a tool truck, not that it could'nt handle it but I use a 99 f 450 and a 95 chevy 3500 for pulling the machines around. I was surprised that the master cyl went out so soon. First thing it did was the peddle would go to the floor and not come back with out some toe assistance, then the next day it wouldn't go into gear, had to have it towed to the dealer. At least it's raining here and we can't work any way. They said 295.00 to fix, not too bad. I did have to replace the rear rotors at 35,000 but that was because I neglected to pay attention to the pads wearing out.

I had a '97 with problems similar to the ones you describe. After some inspection I found that the linkage in the cab had a plastic bushing between the actuator rod and the foot pedal that was worn out. This was replaced as well as the lever on the foot pedal and wouldn't you know I had lots of clutch and no problems going into gear. Hope this helps!!
