I just returned from my deployment and my 1976 Ford F-150 is blowing a little bit of white smoke. I have been thinking about a rebuild for awhile. Here are the stats.
1976 Ford F-150 4x4
360 with Edelbrock RPM intake, Edelbrock 600 CFM carb, headers
3:55 gears
33x12.50
4 speed
I have a couple routes I would like to go and would like your input. I will be using this truck pretty daily for work. I can go to a 390 with a FAST or MSD EFI or a 445 stroker with a carb. I think a 390 will give me all the power I need. Also any cam advice you may have.
i beleive so joe, i think the 360 is a fine engine in its self just rebuild it and fix what you have to the 360 has last the truck for 36 years why change it up?
on another hand Ol Joe Wilker where ya been I aint seen ya around in AWHILE
I suspect with the white smoke (water) you may have a bad head gasket. With the 360 adding crank & rods with new pistons you will have a 390. Since you already have the goodies, you should come out in the $2000.00 ou just under range, my guess.
if it was mine id take it back to stock that way in the long run with the oringinal un molested 360 it would be worth my ( by unmolested i mean bored stroked ect ect)
