hey guys ,ok i replaced the center carrier bearing ,and checked the yokes everything seemed to be fine but its still not right,,,my new question is ,,since i didnt mark the u-joints and splines for re-alignment,,dooohhh!,,is there a method to aligning all the driveshafts and splines? or am i just screwed?,,,frustrated user,,thanks
I hate to say this, but you need to take the assembly, the entire driveshaft back out and to a driveline place. They can balance it by taking weights off and adding weights where they are supposed to be. They will need the slip yoke all the way back. Without marking it, it is impossible to say how it was supposed to go back together. I know mine had weights only on the back part of the driveshaft.
A driveline place should be able to balance it for $70 or so. I think that is what I was quoted. I figured I would replace all my stuff and then check and see if it needed balanced and it didn't.
Sorry, as I know that probably isn't what you wanted to hear, but it's the best solution.
well jbalestri ,,your right i didnt want to hear that, but i guess thats a fact of life,,and really not to costly either ,hehe i figured it would cost a fortune to have that done ,,but thats where the old saying comes in (you live as you learn)lol i just learned to live on this site a little more before i go tearing things apart!!!! thanks for the help,,tom,
,,hey btw,me and a friend were talking earlier and were wondering if a guy can swap tailshafts from a 4wd c-6 to a 2wd c-6? ive got a good 2wd tranny and a slipping 4wd tranny,,ever discussed/done this before? thanks ,tom
Ummm, automatics are not really anywhere near my area of knowledge. I would assume that the base tranny is the same, except that the four wheel drive has the t-case bolted to it. I do know that the driveshafts are different length, but I would think that if you can bolt the t-case and the tailshaft onto the other tranny, it would work. I really don't know. Check around, I'm sure someone else knows though.
