I am a township Supervisor here in my township, and we just ordered one of these for our Police Department.

The utility is getting the 3.7 v6 w/ 304hp; the sedan has the 3.5 v6 in both N/A (288hp) and in ecoboost form (365hp). They are all coming in AWD fashion, no FWD option.
We're currently in the process of trading out eight P71s for these right now in my dept. We're going to have to retain eight P71s for another two years.

What is the driving cost for the trades. I really though that most depts wanted to hold onto the P71's.

It's usually not much - we had one officer buy one out about six years ago and I think he paid maybe $6K for it.

We usually trade in half the fleet every two years and rotate the following two years. We skipped 2010 due to budget so right now we're trading in our 2008s that have approx 80-110k miles and about 6-7k hours on them. We share cars so they run three shifts and we rotate them regularly between eight districts and two supervisors...so they get their fair share of abuse.

I personally love the P71 - having grown up on RWD it fits me like a glove. I do however like the handling of the new Interceptor. The interior dimensions are lacking slightly compared to the P71 and the rear window line of sight sucks. It is better than the Charger, though. We had one of those that we got for a deal when they first came out and they sucked something awful in handling, power and ergonomics.

We'll see how the V6 holds up to the duty cycle we run. I'm expecting some failures...it's bound to happen.

They both look nice. Just saw the Explorer the other day. I heard the earlier Chargers had front end issues. The Charger's don't hold up very well in rural areas were pavement isn't everywhere I'm told.
In Arizona we see a lot of Chevy Tahoe's.
