i have a 85 f150 with a inline 6 with a 3 speed, i was wondering if anyone here could tell me why my clutch pedal is a bit stiff, i have replaced everything, from the slavecyinder to the lines, its no big deal but was just wondering if it could be easyer,
Most people have trouble when the clutch pedal is too SOFT.
Stiff to you could be soft to someone else. For instance, I like the mechanical clutch vs the hydraulic clutch because with the mechanical clutch, I actually have some kind of pedal feel. I can't feel a hydraulic clutch at all.
Now, if it's excessively hard, then I'd be worried. Is it like manual brakes?
Make sure the tube that the release bearing slides on has a tiny bit of high temp lube on it. There is a pipe that is mounted to the front of the tranny, and the input shaft that turns the tranny goes up through the middle of this pipe. This pipe or tube is what the release bearing slides back and forth on. It can get dry and make for more effort in the clutch pedal. Just put a little dab on it though, you don't want lots of grease that can get on the clutch.
