Well I'm hoping this is a fairly straight forward question. I'm in a 1999 F250 Super Duty with the Supercab, recently upgraded my headunit and speakers to some decent aftermarket units trying to improve my driving experience and I'm looking to add a bit of bass to it as well.
Now let me just say I'm no audiophile or bass junky. Not long ago I remember wiring up multiple 10in woofers to a big amp or bumping around with some 12's because, well I guess it was cool. But I listen mostly to rock (or talk radio!) with some of the other stuff mixed in and would love to get a little more low end than even nice aftermarket 5x7's can offer (its sad I put a nice headunit and nice speakers in and the most basic stereo offered in new cars blows it away). Any suggestions? Of top most importance is minimal budget followed closely by maximizing usable interior space. Wayyy down on the list is big bass- I just want to fill out the sound not rattle the windows.
If I were you, I'd start with a sub box, some decent but not expensive speakers to mount in the box and then an amp, there again not a high dollar one and I think it would make a big difference. Here's a place that sells custom fit sub boxes. Ford F-250 | F-350 Subwoofer Boxes
I had a Q-Logic box in my 2000 supercab. It had 1 10" JL sub in it. Anything is an upgrade over the factory stuff though.
Here's some pics of how I had my amp (had to cut a bit of the seat frame out). Unfortunately I don't have any of the speaker box, but it was pretty cool, doubled as a rear center console with 2 cup holders in it.
Did you ever finish this build? If you don't mind making some alterations, you CAN put a relatively inexpensive sub behind the rear seat of that truck!!
