New injector pump
HI all! Mine developed a leak yesterday, and since I can't have that truck down for more than a few hours....I installed a new Stanadyne myself....first time working on a diesel.
Anyway, I found a new pump that a guy had given a tire dealer because he couldn't pay his bill....got it for $300!!!
It took me 2.5 hours to do the swap and all is working as it should now.
The symptom was a new buzzing sound that developed and caused me to look under the hood for the problem....number four injector was starving for fuel and pump was leaking fuel. The injector quietened down after the new pump was installed! I think that I saved a bundle doing it myself and finding a deal on a new...not rebuilt pump.
By the way the first pump made it 193,800 miles!!

Yeah you saved yourself some money. Even if it's running good, I would still have a diesel tech check the timing, just to make sure everything is good. I did my pump some time back, and even though all the marks lined up and everything went together perfect, after the timing meter was on it, it still needed a little tweak.
I love these IDI's, there isn't anything on the truck I can't fix myself. When I bought my truck, I picked it over a less expensive 95 PSD just for that reason.
I have a buddy that has a 97? f-350 PSD that I've gotten use to working on for the little things. It is a very nice motor, but when he had to shell out almost a grand for four injectors, my jaw dropped. Gave me a good feeling knowing my injectors are 25 bucks a pop.

Seriously, I only buy parts for our trucks from either the Ford dealer, or the international dealer. I use a commercial account and wind up with a pretty good discount. But, we also spend a ton of cash with these people.
I gave up on the national chain parts stores a long time ago, all thier stuff is mostly Chinese made garbage. These places are only good for car wash soap, and new floor mats.
Now that I think about it, these G code injectors were more like 29 bucks a shot, and none of those reground ones.
Recently, I had to get new oil bath seals, $21ea., new wiper motor, that was $65 or so, and a case of FW-16 at 5 bucks a bottle. Thats about all I can remember now.
