I wondered the same thing, if you throw in a different ficm into your truck I would think it would not know the difference, but maybe it has a electronic # that it sees in the ficm and the pcm ??? Good question

For what it's worth...
Two months ago I purchased an SCT with 3 custom tunes and a 4" MBRP cat-back. Only had run 4 tanks, 2,000 miles when two weeks ago I swapped my poorly running FICM for a rebuild with Atlas 40.
First trip was pulling 7,500 lb TT 500 miles and got 13.5 mpg vs.10 before. Now on SCT e-con getting 1 mpg better than before FICM. Can't truly say if FICM w/Atlas is the result because my FICM was bad period. I do say engine is running 5min/10max degrees hotter now. Pedal response and drive-ability yes but again FICM was bad.
I have only compliments for Mike and morepowertuning.com. His service and perf-con and tow tune live up to my expectations. Ed @ ficmrepair.com was very helpful. Thanks Guys !

NEW STOCK TURBO ANDFAILED DUMMY PLUGS REPLACED (?)BY DEALERSHIP @ 90K
STOCK DONALDSON W/ DR. DIESEL GRILL INSERT
SCT, RUNNING SCAN GUAGE,
BLUE SPRING, MBRP MUFFLER, CAT IN THERE BUT ??? INSIDE AND NOW A FICM W/ATLAS 40
