Hey it's me again Copper, I have a 1999 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer. I have the EATC air conditioning system, my question is what is wrong when my rear air is colder than the vents in the front of the truck. I mean when I have it on Max air, its not blowing cold enough but my rear air is freezing. Can someone help me out?
More than likely your truck is equipped with an auxilliary AC system in the back. In that case, the rear is being cooled by the auxilliary AC system, and the front by the primary system. Have you ahd the system checked lately - it may have developed a leak in a seal and is low on what used to be termed Freon (currently R-134 I think).
Even though you might have "dual A/C" it is still one system with one compressor, one condenser core, etc. I'd bet that you cooling differences have something to do with the electronic controls/sensors.
I just returned from my first road trip with my new 03 EB this weekend and encounted the same problem...After riding 100 miles in 90 degree weather and sweating in the car, i realized that my wife had her side of the dual AC set on 78, while mine was at 65 deg. Once I put both on 65, everything was fine. Just make sure both sides of the dual AC control are set on the same temp. That should fix the problem.
