How does a 3/4 ton differ from a 1/2 as far as lowering goes? I want to find a 3/4 ton long bed, cut out a section of frame and put a short bed on it (cheaper than buying an actual shortbed truck). Anything special I need to know?
Can you offer more detail on what you are wanting to do? You start with lowering, then jump to chassis shortening. Why a 250 & not a 100? Is yours a 4wd?
The 65-72 chassis are pretty much identical, you should be able to find one unless you are in a rust belt. Too many guys get in a rush, take your time, this project aint gonna get done overnight, or a weekend.
Well ideally I would like to buy an old f100 2wd shortbed that I can lower and make a shop truck out of it. But those are hard to come by so I thought I'd pick up an old 3/4 ton 2wd and turn it into the f100 that I want. But I'm afraid that I'd have to cut off all the rear suspension stuff and re mount it, change out axles, etc. I just don't know the difference between a 3/4 ton chassis vs. a 1/2 ton chassis.
Don't know bro, I would think 100 shorties would be easier to find than 250s. The big difference between the two is the things below the chassis the 250 is more heavy duty than the 100.
Hey put in where you are, maybe someone close by can help you out.
