I have a 96 460 EFI. Today is started stalling. I can keep it running by pushing the pedal down, but if I lay off, it drops to idle, then eventually just dies. I can restart and it will run with gas, but lay off and it stalls, etc. etc. Any ideas? I've already replaced the fuel pump (last year). Thanks.
If you have a MAF check for vacuum leaks. Sounds like it is a sensor problem, run a scan if you can, look closely at the TPS, MAP/MAF, and CTS. There is also the possibility that you EGR valve is stuck open, you should take it off and make sure it seals up OK. I hope this helps, good luck
I have exact same thing. Need to hit the pedal lightly to keep it from dying at idle.
Thus far I replaced the fuel filter and today replaced spark plugs. But I doubt spark plugs have anything to do with it.
I don't want to just start replacing parts at random so I will pull codes on it and see if I get anything. Would be most interesting to see how your problem gets resolved.
We tried to clean the throttle body. It didn't help. Hooked up a code reader. Got codes 412, 116, 334, and 538. Clearned them but some came back up (not the temp code though). I decided to take it to the Ford joint. They can swap out all the parts they want and only charge me for the one that fixes it, much cheaper than the way i would do it.
